a. Age Requirements
- The document used to register for the race must be legitimate and valid.
- UTNH-105 and CNH-60 participants must be between 18 years old and 65 years old (born between April 15, 1958 (inclusive) and April 15, 2005 (inclusive)).
- YNH-25 participants must be between 16 years old and 65 years old (born between April 15, 1958 (inclusive) and April 15, 2007 (inclusive)).
- MNH-12 participants must be between 10 years old and 65 years old (born between April 15, 1958 (inclusive) and April 15, 2013 (inclusive)).
- Minors under 18 can only participate in the races with a declaration signed on-site by their custodians or legal representatives.
b. Physical Requirements
Trail running is an intensive long-distance competitive sport with high risks, quite physically demanding for its participants. Race competitors should be fit, either habitual runners or people training regularly, and consider their physical conditions and capacity to choose a suitable event. Race participants will be liable for personal injury and property damage caused by physical or other personal problems during races. Before registration, the race committee strongly recommends all participants get a physical check-up (including ECG) at formal healthcare institutions and evaluate their conditions based on the result to decide whether they are fit enough for trail running. Those in one or more of the following conditions are not suitable for Ultra-Trail Ninghai: (1) Congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease; with a family history of sudden death, especially sudden cardiac death; (2) Hypertension and cerebrovascular diseases; (3) Myocarditis and other heart diseases; (4) Coronary artery disease and severe arrhythmia; (5) Diabetic patients with hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia; (6) Those who caught a cold within two days before the race; (7) Over-consumption of liquor or insufficient sleep the night before the race; (8) During pregnancy; (9) Other medical conditions not suitable for exercise.
Elite Runners :
In order to give fair recognition to high level athletes and to ensure a fair management of entry applications, we reserve places for elite athletes according to their UTMB Index in the category of the race they chose to compete. Elite runners must register during the registration period. No registration will be accepted after the deadline.

Runners meeting the criteria may benefit from the above registration conditions.
Entrants promise to a. Be fully aware of the distance of the entered group and the specific nature of trail running, for which they should have trained thoroughly. b. Be able to act independently in the mountains and face any type of problems that might occur during the race alone. (1) Carry all mandatory gear as required to cope with weather changes (night, wind, coldness, fog, rain, or snow). (2) Know how to manage physical or mental issues caused by extreme fatigue, for example, digestion problems, muscle or joint pains, minor wounds, etc. c. Respect nature, the volunteers, the staff, and the relevant race regulations and rules. d. Keep the cell phone turned on and not mute it during the whole process of the race to receive race information. e. Read and consent to the race documents such as the Competition Rules and the Registration Guides.
Semi-independent Finish a. It is necessary to finish the race semi-independently. That implies self-sufficiency regarding food, clothes, and safety equipment on the course between refreshment stations and the ability to manage accidents or unexpected problems (bad weather, physical issues, injuries, etc.). b. Entrants must always carry all items mentioned in the mandatory gear list (see the Mandatory Gear section) and receive mandatory gear checks during the race. Missing gear will lead to a forced withdrawal. Avoiding any gear check will result in disqualification. c. Water, sports beverages, and food are available at refreshment stations. Entrants must carry sufficient refreshments when leaving one refreshment station to cover the distance to the next station. Matters needing attention: Gear included in the mandatory gear list are those each entrant must select and adapt to according to their capability. We strongly recommend selecting garments that really protect you from coldness and wind in the mountains for better safety.
Potential Safety Risks Entrants must understand the special health requirements for the race and the insecurities involved and evaluate prudently the potential risks and accidents that might occur, including but not limited to car accidents, risks caused by weather changes or natural disasters, risks resulting from damp heat such as heatstroke, personal physical conditions or risks that physiological responses to activities can induce, potential harms to the human body by animals or insects, other potential dangers or accidents and unexpected situations, etc. Such unexpected situations are rare events. However, please maintain a sense of awe and vigilance when performing outdoor sports. Train thoroughly for the race and bring all mandatory gear to prevent risks. The organizer shall not be liable for any compensation in any form for personal risks of accidents during the race and damages, deaths, or other forms of losses not caused by the organizer.
Safety and Medical Assistance a. Medical stations are set up in all refreshment stations along the race course. Aid stations are set up in certain parts of the course and equipped with rescue volunteers to assist with medical aid. The primary purpose of these stations is to help anyone in danger. b. Runners in trouble or seriously injured can seek help in the following ways: (1) Go to the medical station at any refreshment station. (2) Call the phone number printed on the bib number to contact the race command center. (3) Seek help from other participants. (4) All participants must help anyone in danger and inform the race command center or the staff. (5) If calling the race command center is impossible, please call 120 under absolute emergency circumstances. c. Due to the mountain environment and potential unexpected situations, it might take the rescue team longer than expected to arrive. Therefore, please ensure you carry your mandatory gear and prepare other kits according to your needs. d. The race committee will provide free field first aid during the race, but the entrants will bear all costs generated in the hospital. The committee will subsequently assist entrants and the insurance company in settling claims under insurance terms. e. To ensure the entrants’ life safety, if, based on the judgment of the medical staff, any entrant is in a situation that might endanger personal safety, the race committee has the right to compel them to stop racing for the moment or withdraw from the race. If they insist on taking the risk, the race committee will no longer be liable.
Race Insurance a. The race committee purchases personal accident insurance for all entrants and staff. If the insurance cannot be bought or gets invalidated due to incomplete or false information provided by the participants, it shall be the participants who take responsibility. b. The insurance purchased by the race committee is personal accident insurance, which does not cover problems caused by diseases or physical conditions like heatstroke and fainting. Therefore, please register for the race with prudent considerations based on your health conditions. c. The entrants will be liable for personal injuries or deaths caused by dopes or other illicit drugs during the race.
All bib numbers are decided and distributed by the race committee.
The entrants must show their ID and mandatory gear to pick up their race bib. The bib must be worn on the chest or stomach, not covered at any time during the race, and be shown for the entrance of the assembly zones, the refreshment stations, and the finish location and bag deposit and pick-up.
Start
UTNH-105 runners should gather at the designated zone by 5:55 a.m., April 15. The group will start at 6:00 sharp.
CNH-60 runners should gather at the designated zone by 6:55 a.m., April 15. The group will start at 7:00 sharp.
YNH-25 runners should gather at the designated zone by 7:55 a.m., April 15. The group will start at 8:00 sharp.
MNH-12 runners should gather at the designated zone by 8:25 a.m., April 15. The group will start at 8:30 sharp.
Bag deposit a. UTNH-105 runners can deposit at most two bags at the start location. CNH-60, YNH-25, and MNH-12 runners can deposit at most one bag at the start location. The race committee will provide bags to all runners to put their runner bag/bags, which they should waterproof. All runners should write the bib number and the place of delivery (the UTNH-105 group can deliver one bag to CP6 Baixi Village) on the sticker handed out by the race committee and attach it to the designated space on the deposit bag. The race committee will arrange vehicles to transport the bags to the corresponding place after the race starts. b. All deposit bags will be kept in a specific area at CP6 (Baixi Village) and the finish area. The race bib must be shown for the bag pickup. Deposit bags kept at the finish area should be collected before 6:30 a.m., April 16. c. Entrants that withdraw during the race and leave on their own should contact the race committee before 6:30 a.m., April 16, providing their bib number so that the committee can arrange deposit bag collection. For logistics reasons, the committee cannot promise the deposit bags of UNTH withdrawal runners kept at CP6 will have been taken back to the final location, the West Gate, by the time the runners are taken back there. d. Please don’t leave valuables or fragile or dangerous items in the deposit bags. Bag owners will be liable for any damage or loss of belongings in the bags or safety accidents.
Timing a. The race uses timing sensors. Timing chips will start working as soon as the runners pass the start line. b. Timing sensors will be set up at the start and finish location and each refreshment station. The runners must pass each timing point. Any missed read will lead to the invalidation of the race result.
Silk ribbons, signs, and security lines with the race logo are used to mark the course. If you do not see any course marks in more than 200 meters during the race, please confirm whether you are still on the right course using the track saved on your cell phone and return to the correct one. See the Race Course for the course map and track of each group.
For UTNH-105 only: Runners can rest at CP8 Liliao and CP9 Fengshan, where camping beds are available.
a. Age falsification or bib swapping. b. Wearing others’ timing chips or more than one timing chip in the race. c. Ignoring the start sequence or starting in the zone for an event you did not register for. d. Starting ahead of the specified start time. e. Refusing to stop running after exceeding the cut-off time or returning to the course after withdrawal. f. Not following the specified course to complete the race, taking shortcuts or using transportation to cover some distance. g. Counterfeiting bib numbers or multiple persons running in turn with one bib number. h. Refusing to follow the race staff’s directions or interfering with the race’s proceeding. i. Littering. j. Missing mandatory gear or avoiding mandatory gear checks. k. Missing any of the timing points. l. Leaving refreshment stations after the corresponding cut-off time. m. Doping. n. Other behaviors violating the race rules. Complaints about other runners’ fouls must be submitted with evidence to the race committee through email within three working days after the race.
- Runners violating any of the above rules will be disqualified. The race committee reserves the right to make the final decision.
- Abandoning the race If you decide to withdraw in the middle of the race, please go to the closest refreshment station to inform the race staff of your withdrawal and go through the withdrawal formalities. Wait at the refreshment station for the shuttle vehicle sent by the race committee, which will take you to the finish location. If you return by yourself, you need to call the phone number on the race bib to inform the race command center staff. Stopping racing in the middle of the race without telling the race committee will be considered quitting. The race committee will not be responsible for any subsequent consequences.
- Compulsory withdrawal If based on the judgment of the committee staff, any entrant is in a situation that might endanger personal safety, the race committee has the right to compel them to stop racing for the moment or withdraw from the race.
UTNH-105 a. The top 8 male and top 8 female runners (official time) will be awarded prize money. (RMB, Unit: Yuan, before tax) place 1:30000RMB; place 2:20000RMB; place 3:12000RMB; place 4:8000RMB; place 5:6000RMB; place 6:4000RMB; place 7:4000RMB; place 8:4000RMB. b. Special prizes for finishing within 16 hours All runners finishing the race within 16 hours (official time) will get a special souvenir.
CNH-60 The top 3 male and top 3 female runners (official time) will be awarded prize money. (RMB, Unit: Yuan, before tax) place 1:6000RMB; place 2:4000RMB; place 3:2000RMB.
YNH-25 and MNH-12 The top 3 male and top 3 female runners (official time) will be awarded prizes.
Matters needing attention:
(1) The winning athletes’ race results will be announced on the official race website after the race. They will receive the prize money after 30 working days of the announcement if no issue arises during this whole time.
(2) According to the Chinese Tax Law, 20% individual income tax will be levied on the prize money.
(3) If any problem is found, the race committee will cancel the ranking and prize money of the interested winning athlete. However, there will not be any substitute for the resulting vacant rank.
(4) Winning athletes with the same official time will be ranked by chip time.
(5) All runners completing the race within the time limit specified by the competition rules will receive a finisher medal. Race certificates will be available for download and printing on the official website 3 working days after the race.
(6) The awarding ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., April 16.
If any inevitable or unconquerable event beyond the reasonable control of the race committee occurs during the race, such as earthquakes, typhoons, heavy rains, floods, fires, landslides, politics, and other force majeure events, the race committee reserves the right to cancel the race or adjust the race course and to any other aspects related to the smooth running of the events. In the case of any adjustment due to force majeure events, the entry fee will not be refund, nor will the travel expenses be compensated.
